From Debbie’s desk:
It seems these days that my song of praise resounds with “To God be the Glory.” For the beautiful gardens on the church property and throughout Riverton; for friends and family; for the ministry and mission of Calvary church; for my life, my health and the medical field which I truly believe is a gift from God: to God be the Glory.
Here’s a true story that recently happened that explains why I am singing: “to God be the Glory!” A little background will set the stage: My retina specialist, Dr. Fineman, has decided that I should undergo injections in both of my eyes each month for 2 years to help with my macular degeneration. I had my first injection in the right eye on Tuesday, June 15 and was scheduled to have my first injection in the left eye on Tuesday, June 22. The experience with the right eye was not pleasant for a number of reasons – prior dilation in both eyes, allergic reaction to the antibiotic, and such – so I was apprehensive about how the injection in the left eye would go.
Now my story: Early Tuesday morning (I couldn’t sleep) I was checking my calendar on the computer when a reminder for my eye doctor appointment later that morning
popped up. I had entered the “what” and “when” information the prior week when
I made the appointment. The funny thing was that there was now a “where” category
filled in and I hadn’t put any information in that spot! In the calendar event, the “what”
was “injection in eye,” the “when” was “8:30 am,” but the new category “where” said “Emanuel.”
At first I was confused – where is Emanuel? But, as I said the name aloud, I smiled. Emmanuel – God-with-us! I thought of all the prayers that were being lifted for me and I knew that God was listening. The “where” was a wonderful reminder as to the “where”abouts of God – God was and is right with me!! And so I said and continue to say, “To God be the Glory!”
There is a hymn called “My Tribute.” (words and music by Andraé Crouch) These words are my song of praise to a God who is never distant! I hope they speak to you, too!
“How can I say thanks for the things you have done for me?
Things so undeserved yet you gave to prove your love for me;
the voices of a million angels could not express my gratitude.
All that I am and every hope to be; I owe it all to thee.
To God be the glory, to God be the glory, to God be the glory for the things he has done.
With his blood he has saved me; with his power he has raised me,
to God be the glory for the things he has done.
Just let me live my life, let it be pleasing, Lord, to thee. And if I gain any praise, let it go to Calvary.
With his blood he has saved me; with his power he has raised me,
to God be the glory for the things he has done.”

(note: the “Emanuel” listed on my calendar was Emanuel, KY –no idea where it is BUT glad it was posted!)
