Music
Calvary is blessed with an abundance of musical talent. Our Music Director is Dr. Diana Dohrmann.
Dr. Dohrmann’s background includes serving as a former District Supervisor of Fine and Performing Arts in the Willingboro Public Schools, District Director of Theatre Arts, high school music department chair and director of the “Showstoppers”, their musical theatre troupe.
Diana founded and managed the New Jersey Honors Jazz Choir. She directed the Mid-Atlantic Grammy Jazz Choir, sponsored by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Foundation. In 2004, she was awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award in Jazz Education” by the NJ International Assoc. for Jazz Education.
Diana is on the Executive Council of her alma mater, The Boston Conservatory, and was a trustee for ten years. She was the recipient of the Conservatory’s first annual Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award.
Diana is music director for both the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Riverton and the Burlington Entertainers.
Music Worship
Singers, hand bell ringers, those who play an instrument (flute, trumpet, saxophone, guitar) add dimension and variety to our worship services. Either bell choir or chancel choir provides special music from September through June, while Diana arranges for small groups and solos through July and August. Bells rehearse Thursday night at 7:00pm and chancel choir rehearses Thursday evening at 8:00pm. Our praise band, Revival, made up of instrumentalists and singers, hold contemporary worship music services several times a year.
Music is an uplifting way to worship with fellow believers. And, as our choir members, musicians and bell ringers will tell you – it’s a lot of fun! If you are interested in joining us, contact dianadohrmann@comcast.net
